Summer playscheme news

Well well well, it’s that time of year again!
Another summer playscheme has come, been enjoyed and now gone, we’ve laughed, explored, played, jumped and all the rest of it!

Everyone this year was so excited to see all their friends. Due to Coronavirus, we sadly could not go ahead with our Easter and May playschemes, so we had to make sure that we came back bigger and better than ever.

The kids, youth and staff all enjoyed 3 weeks of fun activities including: Go Ape, tie dyeing T-shirts, London Zoo and a trip to the beautiful Leeds castle!

As is a long-standing tradition at playscheme, we all played many a board game, many an UNO competition and many a pool tournament. Not to mention the water fights which were a welcome relief from the blistering British sun!

On the last Tuesday of playscheme, both North and South went separately to Thorpe Park for the day! It was GREAT! We were blessed with lovely weather, until around 1pm when the heavens opened and all of us that were queuing got soaked! Still, it didn’t deter us from going on all the big rides and having a brilliant day!

In other news, we welcomed new Community CSW Emily to North, who will be taking over from Annie, who is moving to South playscheme! The children (and adults!) will miss her lots, but I'm sure she’ll pay us a visit when she’s north of the river!

We also said goodbye to the lovely Cheryl Culver, our Community Coordinator for Deaf-SELF, who is going on to work with Deaf people in the Kent area on behalf of a charity, we wish her the best of luck with her new venture and we hope to see her soon!

Here’s to our October playscheme and another amazing week of fun!! We hope to see you there!

Our Deaf playscheme offers a combination of in-venue activities such as sports, baking and crafts activities as well as day visits to adventure parks, trampolining, or wall-climbing. Every year we offer a wealth of new activities, to inspire participation and character building for each Deaf child who attends. Please see our club page for more information.
