All Aboard for Adventure: Lunch Club's Norfolk Broads Journey

Whilst nestled away at the charming Gunton Hall on our 5 day getaway, our Lunch Club members embarked on a day of adventure that transported us almost back in time.

With the promise of beautiful weather and a breathtaking journey, we set out on a day trip that took us on a nostalgic ride through history on the Bure Valley Railway and a tranquil voyage on an old Mississippi-style boat, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the stunning beauty of the Norfolk Broads.

The weather, by some stroke of luck, was absolutely perfect, setting the stage for a memorable outing.

As the train wheels started to turn, the Norfolk countryside unfolded before us, showcasing some truly beautiful and picturesque scenes.  The soothing, rhythmic chug of the engine combined with the gently sway of the carriages created a somewhat relaxing atmosphere, leading to just a few members nodding off!

Following the delightful railway journey, we embarked on a voyage on an old Mississippi-style boat. As we gathered for our lunch, the wind picked up, creating a few slightly nervous whispers among our group about the upcoming trip on the water!

However, any anxieties were quickly dispelled as we set sail on the surprisingly smooth waters of the Broads. The vintage boat, with its timeless charm, was the perfect way to explore these climes. The landscape that greeted was a haven for wildlife. Birds soared gracefully overhead, and an incredibly rare sighting of an otter darting through the water was a particular highlight.

With our boat tour winding down, we made our way back to Gunton Hall for a delicious dinner and some friendly quizzes. Laughter and shared stories filled the room, serving as a fitting end to a remarkable day.
