The Secret’s Out: Our Autumn Farm Adventure Is Hitting the Screens!

The Secret’s Out: Our Autumn Farm Adventure Is Hitting the Screens!

North London Playscheme have been working hard to keep the secret, but finally it’s out and they’re allowed to share the news! This October half-term not only did North London Playscheme children take a trip to Freightliners Farm, but they also took part in filming for BBC’s See Hear!

BBC’s See Hear was exploring the incredible projects funded by Children in Need this year and were excited to learn about what we’ve been upto here at Remark! and see the impact we’ve made to the lives of deaf children and youth.

The day started with torrential rain and grumpy faces, but as soon as they arrived at the farm and were introduced to Mario and Nala, the rabbits, frowns were turned upside down. Everyone was in awe of how soft and fluffy they were! Next up for some cuddle were the guinea pigs, who were staying at the farm for a holiday whilst their owners were away.

After a quick quiz to make sure everyone was focused, the farm tour was underway. They got to feed the chickens, who couldn’t believe their luck! Then a walk through the gardens and into the greenhouse, where they were challenged to find a red chilli. Though none were brave enough (or silly enough) to dare eat one. After that they met Steve the cow, who made great friends with the CSW though was not super helpful when trying to sign…they finished off the tour with Gwendolyn the goat who got to strut her stuff whilst all the children gave her a stroke and some delicious snacks.

After the tour, it was time to get their hands messy with a gardening workshop where they got to decorate their own plant pot however they wanted; fill it to the top with soil ready for the Spider Plant bulb to be placed. Lastly, a few pebbles on top to keep the plant in place, then they are all ready to take home where they can grow and grow.

During the workshop, a few individuals got the opportunity to be interviewed by the See Hear team. Though shy at first, a bit of help from the Remark! staff and their bright personalities shone through!

We’d like to say a massive thank you to Freightliners Farm, for being so accommodating and introducing us to so many of their friends.

We’d also like to thank See Hear and the team who spent the day with us, for giving us the exciting opportunity to get involved.

And lastly, a big thanks to Children in Need, and our other supporters, for making this all possible and their continued support throughout 2025 which has enabled us to help deaf children and youth.
