Remark! Hosts Incredible Badminton Tournament

On Sat 17th Jan Remark! Community Badminton Team celebrated their 15 year anniversary with a club tournament.

Every year there is a big tournament which the clubs rotate in turns to host.  8 Clubs picked their best players to represent their club in teams of 8.  The venue was National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace (the same venue we used for the 5 year anniversary tournament ten years ago).

A lot has changed in 10 years.  Some teams like Belfast, Cabra (from Dublin) and Glasgow are no longer competing.  But we see new clubs popping up such as Wulfrunians (Wolverhampton), Milton Keynes and East Midlands. Remark!’s own team has improved dramatically coming 3rd 10 years ago to winning this year’s competition outright.

We had a team of volunteers assisting Steven Wynne, our Head of Community to run this day.  The volunteers helped to umpire games, work out the complex scoring system so people knew which games came next etc.  The format was changed and we played 3 tournaments which were Women’s Doubles & Men’s Doubles played in the morning then Mixed Doubles in the afternoon.  Congratulations to the winners of all 3 events.

8th – East Midlands B (First time entering)

7th – Milton Keynes (First time entering)

6th – Remark! B

5th – Hayes

4th – Wulfrunians / Bexley

3rd – East Midlands A

2nd – Surbiton

We look forward to next season’s tournament held by East Midlands for the first time in October 2026.
