Eltham Lunch Club Invade Hastings Old Town
On Monday Eltham Lunch Club braved the heatwave for a visit to Hastings! Sixteen members took the train and met our brilliant local guide Tony (himself a lunch club member) for a private history tour of the Old Town, where we saw many fascinating locations such as the Fishermen's Museum, Fishermen's Wives' Lookout, and the unique Hastings Net Shops.
After a well-earned break in a cafe, the group climbed the hill, enjoyed the beautiful views of the sea (and more importantly the strong sea breeze), before a trip to the Smugglers Caves. Our members loved learning about the history of smuggling in the area, as well as experiencing the dark caves and some spooky stories...
A huge thank you to Tony for the tour, and our members for making it such a memorable trip.
“I really enjoyed joining everyone for our tour around Hastings Old Town. A massive thanks to Remark Lunch club for arranging the trip.”
