Parent & Children Group for Deaf Families Secures Funding for Two More Years!
We are beyond delighted to announce the excellent news that our Parent & Children Group for families in the Deaf community with Deaf parents or Deaf children has received 2 more years of funding from The National Lottery Awards for All!
The group began as a fledgling project in 2023, with families meeting on weekday afternoons in Coram's Fields. Our first ever event was attended by 4 families who were so excited at the opportunity to socialise with families like them while having access to fully accessible workshops, trips and activities.
Since then their dream has become a reality, and we have adapted the project from feedback since to include social trips and events every month at the weekend, parental education workshops on the last Thursday of the month in the evening, and weekly dedicated advocacy all day Tuesday with assistance with phone calls, letter translation and school/child related support.
Our most recent event at Hobbledown Farm saw a huge 18 families (over 70 members) attend, and there was double that number on the waiting list!
Thanks to The National Lottery Awards for all, we can continue to expand our ability to deliver even bigger, more varied and in-demand sessions for our members for the next two years - supporting the development of your children, social connections to your Deaf community, and tools for your family to thrive. Thank you, National Lottery Community Fund!
