Dulwich Picture Gallery - A Remarkable BSL Tour

Last week, Remarkable Club took a trip to Dulwich Picture Gallery for a guided BSL tour of the artwork. The tour was led by Deaf historian John Wilson, who told us about the history of the art as well as the gallery itself which we learned was the world’s first ever public space created specifically for displaying artwork. He provided a rich history of key figures and events linked to the gallery – from the life of Edward Alleyn to the destruction of the gallery in WW2.

..we wanted to know more and more.

Many questions were brewing from the group as we wanted to know more and more. John, with his infinite knowledge, happily answered all questions thrown his way and did an excellent job with the tour.

Afterwards, everyone was free to browse the beautiful artwork at their own leisure, looking at the vast collection of work from a variety of artists. Many members also enjoyed chatting in the café and enjoying one or two of their baked goods. Our staff may be tempted to book another trip there just for an excuse to buy another red velvet cupcake!
