Screen Time Reflections: Youth Club's Dive into Mobile Phones and Social Media

In a world dominated by smartphones and social media, it's easy to lose track of our screen time. Recently, at the Youth Club, coordinator Habib led a lively, engaging and interactive session that shed light on this issue, and helped our teenagers ‘unplug’ from their bad phone habits!

Habib's presentation sparked discussions about our screen routine, and he taught members how to check their Screen Time in their phone’s settings. Many were surprised to learn about their own usage, including some members who were logging up to 6 hours a day! A member of staff had them beat, spending that day a total of 8 hours and 11 minutes on his phone! He was very insistent that it was due to work, but his Tik Tok profile told another tale…

Some members were logging up to 6 hours a day on their phones!

The group explored the ups and downs of social media, sharing ideas and insights. Then, in groups, the youth presented their findings to their peers brilliantly. They then discussed ideas of how to reduce screen time and social media usage, revealing their habits and hobbies in the ‘real world’ and the joys they bring. They ended the evening with a revealing quiz.

The session left everyone with a fresh perspective on their online habits. With newfound knowledge, they're ready to strike a balance between their digital lives, and real lives with friends, family and fresh air!

Join us at the Youth Club and let's navigate the digital world together!
